"Lovely black soil at these church allotments, went to see the pond last year & saw 5 people getting dressed up in wet suites & wellington boots & a lot of big posh talk, looked like a major contract, the pond was jammed full of yellow flag iris, bull rush, loose strife ect, it all needed to be taken out than put a couple of flag iris back & a couple of the loose strife they will all quickly spread again, no more bull rushes as they will completely take over a pond also their roots will break the liner, the brambles behind the pond needed to come out & where they are the soil as fell away from pond edge & needs to be build up again as the water level is nearly foot low, plus the pond liner is exposed to the sun as the pond water can not be filled to the top of the liner, anyhow went back a few days later to see what work those 5 had done & they had done nothing was all still jammed up with plants the brambles still there, pond was still a foot short of being full, after all that fuss of putting on wet gear dozens of tools and they had done nothing & spent nothing, cowboys, if I was in charge I would have put my hand in my pocket and gone down the road & purchased a couple hundred quid worth of pond plants from Groves for the pond. Went to the pond today September 2025 & there's just a bit of water in the bottom like it's been all summer, theres a hose pipe lending to the pond edge but no-one as put them selfs out to turn on the tap where ever that was, the pond life in that pond as nearly all died off, it's a disgrace. The pond is surrounded by trees, a pond must be in full sun for it to do well, the weed won't grow in shade, the millions of leafs fall off the trees & fall in the pond & rot down than turn the water bad & smelly with the leafs giving off plant food for blanket weed to grow. As for the orchard I Don't fancy any of the Cider that they make as have been in the orchard when they collect up the apples off the floor & put them in the press, the apples on the trees have enough worms without the fallers going in the brew as well, they are certainly are a strange lot in Bridport"

In Winter, a little secluded spot to sit and think.
