Reviews Summary

Lumsdale Valley is widely praised as a beautiful hidden gem with magical scenery, featuring stunning waterfalls and intriguing mill ruins. Visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the historical aspect of the valley. However, parking is frequently cited as a significant challenge due to limited space, and some find the fencing off of certain areas detracts from the experience.

"A lovely hidden corner in the matlock area. Parking is difficult as there's not much of it and just enough people want to visit to fill it on a nice day. There's a small brewery you can visit for a rest and refreshments and perhaps a locally made beer or two to take home. The waterfalls are lovely and the mill ruins interesting to explore."

"Beautiful Hidden Gem in the Peak District!
Absolutely stunning walk with magical scenery. The Lumsdale Waterfall trail feels like stepping into a fairytale – peaceful, atmospheric, and full of history. The walk takes you past ruins of old mills and cascading waterfalls, all tucked away in a quiet, green valley.

The path is fairly easy to follow, though there are a few steep and uneven spots – good footwear is a must, especially after rain. It’s not a long walk, but there’s plenty to take in and enjoy. Great for a peaceful nature escape, photography, or a short family adventure.

Parking is limited nearby, and the area is privately owned in parts, so it’s important to stick to the marked public footpaths. Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Matlock area!"

"What a lovely place! Fantastic place to chill and have a wonderful walk. We did a 3k trail we found on another website which was great, not ideal for pushchairs or wheel chairs as pathways uneven, slippery and lots of small gates etc to get through, incline part wasn't the easiest but a regular walker would complete it easy. really loved this outside time. the waterfall is amazing and so peaceful."
