Reviews Summary

Visitors find St George's RAF Chapel of Remembrance to be a beautiful and peaceful memorial, with the adjacent museum offering a comprehensive look at RAF Biggin Hill's history. While some find the museum exhibits brief for the price, others appreciate the dedication to preserving this significant part of British heritage. The cafe and Remembrance Garden add to the overall positive experience.

"The Chapel is a truly beautiful and peaceful place. It is open every day except Monday, 10am -5.00 pm. Despite the rumours the Chapel is a fully functioning place of worship with weekly service every Sunday and 5 annual special services. It holds funerals, memorials baptisms and burial of ashes in the Remembrance Garden. It is also open for visitors as a WW2 memorial Chapel with 6 boards naming and honouring those who gave their lives flying from Sector C in WW2. The newly refurbished museum for January 2023, shares the same site, open same hours and showcases the history of the RAF at Biggin Hill. Allow at least a couple of hours to go through the museum and another hour to visit the Women in the War exhibition and the Chapel. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and a lovely cafe serving lunches, tea and cakes. Well worth a day's visit. Good activities for kids in the school holidays."

"I have been meaning to visit here since it was finally built after many years of being promised. The museum gives a background to the RAF station but the Chapel for us was definitely the highlight, a very warm building that is a fitting memorial to those that have given the ultimate sacrifice. There is also a very sweet cafe tearoom with a garden area attached. Well worth a visit to learn about the beginnings of Biggin Hill."

"A massive part of British history, the RAF Chapel of Remembrance has now been turned into a museum, holding religious services only on special occasions such as Battle of Britain and Remembrance Sunday.
The chapel has beautiful stained glass windows depicting the squadrons which flew from there during the wars, and a collection of war memorabilia relating to its history.
Open Wednesday to Sunday, 11.00 - 5.00 (as at Jan17)"
