What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Landguard Viewpoint for its fascinating maritime views and relaxing atmosphere. The Friday fish and chips special is a popular highlight, offering good value. Some wish for more public seating, but overall, it's considered a great spot for a chill day out.
"They do a fish and chips special on a Friday evening between 4 and 6pm. I came off the 1610 ferry from Harwich expecting it to be packed, but it was surprisingly quiet. The friendly lady taking the orders said 'it's too hot for a lot of folk'. Which was true, although Felixstowe, with the sea breeze, was 10 degrees or so lower than inland UK, which was in the mid 30's.
Anyway just £14 for a splendid cod and chips, mushy peas, (which the chef and I agreed were not something either of us rated), with a drink and buttered roll part of the package. I have been coming here for years and I must say that sitting outside on a summer's evening watching the hustle and bustle at the Port of Felixstowe is undoubtedly one of my favourite things to do. Salty sea dog that I am."

"Fascinating place to visit especially when the big container ships are docking. Make sure you get a parking ticket from the machine, you have been warned."
Chris COOK
"Lovely short promenade to sit and view the river movement. Car park, cafe, nature reserve. It's really relaxing on a nice day. Bring a flask of tea, or buy a coffee at the cafe... Sit, unwind, enjoy. Just a small shame there aren't more public benches here, and the promenade isn't a bit bigger. Still a great place to go and just chill."
