📍 Lambley Viaduct, 2.5 miles This is one of my favourite walks to do with baby Rosie in the carrier. Starting off in the Lambley Viaduct South Tyne Trail car park, cross back over the road and onto the old railway line, you continue on this path all the way to the viaduct. After taking in the views, head to the far side of the viaduct and down the steps, when you reach the crossroads in the path...

"Definitely worth a visit just a mile walk from the carpark, nice footpath through the trees, this would have been the old train line. The views from the viaduct were amazing. We visited in October 2025 just as the autumn colours were transforming. Their are steps down to the river, these as steep, but once down , you can truly appreciate the size of the viaduct and the work that went into building it. I've got two water mad border collie, so the river was a big hit with them. Plus we were extremely blessed with the weather that day. Highly recommended a visit"

Lorraine Dennis

"Great walk from the car park along to the viaduct. Being an old railway line it's quite flat so easy going. Currently (July 2025) the viaduct is closed due to damage, so have to walk around in order to cross the river, this journey has inclines so a bit more strenuous. Great views of the viaduct tho !!

Watch out for naked hikers in the area !!"

"Unplanned visit when visiting Walltown Crags nearby. What a treat! Stunning piece of architecture. Pity it’s blocked off at the moment because of structural damage but we took the path underneath and spent some time by the beautiful river. Highly recommend."
