What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Soaperie Gardens for its vibrant monthly farmers market, offering a wide array of local produce and crafts, and its beautiful seasonal displays, particularly the March crocus bloom. The gardens are appreciated as a lovely public space in the heart of Kirkcudbright, though some may miss out on market items if they don't arrive early.
"We visited the farmers market in May 2025. A great gathering of many local businesses selling their wares. From cakes to alcohol, gifts and plants, meat and cheese. There was something for everyone. I had intended on purchasing a bottle from the Dark Arts Distillery stall, but knowing the Dark Arts Distillery was in Kirkcudbright I thought about holding fire and visiting the distillery shop. The distillery shop was closed and I didn't return to the farmers market. Such a shame. I did however buy a bottle of Hills and Harbour Gin which is really really good and their new spirit Billy & Co (new make spirit). We had planned on visiting Newton Stewart where the gin is distilled but ran out of time. I got my pin badge. Woo hoo."
