What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Dartmouth Steam Railway for its scenic beauty, the nostalgic charm of steam travel, and the friendly, efficient operation. The 'Round Robin' ticket is a popular choice for a comprehensive day out. Some find the experience can become repetitive if visited annually, and options for young children in Dartmouth itself are noted as limited.
"Sit back and enjoy the sounds, smells and scenery of the River Dart Valley. A journey as long as you need to add a special memory to your holiday in South Devon. Reminisce or watch children as they enjoy making their own memory aboard a real train.
Kingswear is but a short ferry from Dartmouth if you want to add another destination to your day out. But watch your time and tide to ensure you don't miss out on your trip home or plan for the best photographs in this seaside setting."

"Lovely views ,Great journey for us is a once in a year as it's getting boring. But all in one nice time out with family. The reason for not giving 5☆ is that it's nothing to do for kids in Dartmouth apart from cruising dawn the river."
Levente Jenei
"We got a ticket for the train which included a ticket to and from Dartmouth on the Ferry. Ferry times were roughly 20 minutes apart, so no waiting around. We took the steam train to Paignton and back which left on time and was 30 minutes there and back. The ride was very scenic with lots to see. The train carriage was immaculate and overall seems like a very slick operation. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable. If you are in the area I would highly recommend this trip out. You will not be disappointed."
