What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Skegness Water Leisure Park offers a mixed bag of experiences. While the cafe and accommodation receive praise for value and comfort, issues with toilet cleanliness and a lack of advertised water sports have been noted. The fishing lake is a highlight for anglers, but visitors should be aware of licensing rules.
"Arrived for the bank holiday expected it to be busy was absolute chaos asked to be by family but we were put anywhere as all the slots had gone even though we had booked months ago. Some of the Reception staffs attitude was extremely poor and weren't very helpful didn't really care waited ages to get on pitch after a 5 hr drive even though we were late on the day. Toilets were dirty and showers weren't cleaned regularly. Was a good way away from everything so if you don't walk there is a walk unless you have a taxi or drive. Small cafe was really lovely breakfast was spot on and really good value for money and very friendly staff serving . Apart from the fiasco the site is a nice site for a short stop over and great if you love to fish"

"We arrived with our caravan and were sited in the middle of a field full of tents, felt a bit like we were just abandoned there. The toilets were scruffy, the cleaners did an amazing job but the way some of the customers left them was disgusting. We noticed this was worse both weekends rather than during the week. One toilet was blocked a few times, sanitary towel wrapping and toilet paper left all over the floor but once Sunday came, things were cleaner until the following Friday night/Saturday morning."

"Just had a brilliant week in Franklin Lodge Bungalow. Very clean ,modern up to date decor and fittings, beds made ready all towels supplied. 5 Berth double bed, bunk beds ( wide ) ,and single bed, tv,s all bedrooms. ( Hint ) a walk in shower would be ideal for the less mobile person. But still top class accommodation. A+++++"

Accommodation Options
When booking, consider the location of your pitch. Some reviews suggest that caravan pitches can sometimes be sited in fields with tents, which might not be ideal for everyone. If you have specific requirements, such as proximity to facilities or a quieter spot, it's best to communicate these when making your reservation. The park also offers camping pods, providing a more rustic yet comfortable glamping experience for those who enjoy the outdoors.
Park Amenities and Activities
Beyond these, the park features a general store, a coffee shop, and a pub. The cafe is particularly noted for its excellent breakfast at a good value, served by friendly staff. Unfortunately, one significant point of disappointment for some guests has been the lack of advertised water sports or an aqua park, which was not clearly communicated upon booking. This suggests that visitors should manage expectations regarding water-based activities beyond fishing.
Visitor Experience and Facilities
Another aspect to consider is the park's location. It's described as being a 'good way away from everything,' meaning that if you don't enjoy walking, you'll need a taxi or your own vehicle to access amenities outside the park. Despite these drawbacks, many visitors find the park to be a 'nice site for a short stop over' and appreciate the friendly atmosphere and good value offered by the cafe.
