What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Horsell Common for its natural beauty, diverse landscapes, and its unique connection to H.G. Wells' 'The War of the Worlds.' It's a popular spot for dog walkers and families looking for outdoor activities. Some find the trail navigation a bit confusing, and the 2-hour parking limit can be restrictive for longer visits.
"Have been meaning to come to Horsell Common as I’m a fan of H.G. Well’ War of The Worlds. It was an absolute pleasure walking through Horsell Common to reach The Sandpit, sight of the Martian invasion in the novel. Beautiful nature walks and even Bronze Age remains to be seen here. My only criticism is that, whilst there’s a sign in the car park that points the H G Wells trail out, I got confused as to which way to go once I started walking into the woods. It would be better if there were wooden signposts at intervals to make sure one is going in the right direction. All in all, free car park for two hours, lots to see on walks, and plenty of cute dogs to see as well. A must visit."

"This was a gorgeous location to walk around, initially a bit confusing at first and you can get a bit lost - but that’s part of the journey! So many huge trees, sandy areas, small water areas too, as well as parking. Is nice for families, taking the dog for a walk or a stroll alone. Makes for a good trek."
Lauren
"Lovely pace for a walk. All flat and good paths. However, it is ver popular dog walking place and can get busy with dog walkers at popular times."
