Reviews Summary

While the historic Packhorse Bridge is a key landmark, some visitors find it smaller and less impressive than anticipated. However, the charm of Hebden Bridge town, with its independent shops, riverside walks, and vibrant atmosphere, is consistently praised, making it a worthwhile destination for exploration beyond the bridge itself. Reddit+1

"I recently visited Hebden Old Packhorse Bridge and honestly, it was a huge disappointment.
The drive to Hebden is quite scenic and there are some nice cafés around, but the bridge itself was nothing like what we expected. It’s just a very small, plain bridge with nothing special or aesthetic about it, and unfortunately, it wasn’t well-maintained — it looked quite dirty.

The surrounding town also felt very small and a bit run-down, which didn’t add to the experience. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend visiting just for this attraction, as it didn’t feel worth the trip."

"A picturesque stone bridge that spans Hebden Water, a tributary of the River Calder, right in the historic centre of Hebden Bridge. It was built around 1510, when the town stood on a major trade route. The three arched bridge is cobbled and quite steep to walk across, but there's a handrail on one side to make it easier! Lovely views of the river, town and surrounding hills from the parapets on both sides. It leads on to Bridge Gate, a busy little shopping area with some nice independent shops, cafes, and a small market on the car park every Thursday to Sunday. The steps leading down to the river are a good place to stop for a picnic and feed the ducks."

"Beatiful family and child friendly English-UK Town. Loads of varied places to eat and drink out. Stayed at the Croft Mill serviced apts and they are great with loads of local food Milk, bread, cheese, gluten free, etc. Very nice and close to town. Ate at the White Lion, Marco’s cafe and Greek Aya Sophia. Lamppost cafe is also very nice, unique and cozy. Highly Recommend it."
