What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Great Glen Way for its stunning Highland scenery, diverse terrain, and the iconic journey along Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal. Many enjoy the flexibility of hiking or biking and the sense of accomplishment. However, some find certain sections challenging, and weather can be a significant factor.
"Worth the short walk to the Boat. If you get there in low tide like we did, can see the old ship from all angles. Just take in the angles. Who knows the real story, but the story we saw first hand is amazing.
Well worth the stop. GoogleMaps bring you to a terrible location at a dead end road. Dont be discouraged and drive around the Loch to see it. It's worth it."
Andy Wassmann
"The "Great Glen Way" is a trail running along the edge of the lochs which stretch between Inverness and Fort William. It is a popular trail for both hiking an biking. For much of the trail the terrain is fairly easy, with alternating (flat or nearly flat) stretches of canal path and country road. There are, however, much more challenging stretches that utilize logging roads and hilly trails. To bike the route from one end to the other takes about three days and to hike it takes six or seven.
The views from the trail are frequently breathtaking, and the route takes you through the Scottish countryside and occasionally a small village."

"Good views over the loch. Nice and secluded. Was cloudy however when we visited."
