We do not post videos often with our 10x15 Chandler & Price Gordon-style jobbing press, but when we do film, we try to record much of the process. For this press run, Howard is using black rubber base ink to print a large photo engraving of a cartoon caricature of himself and his favorite letterpress saying, “Mind your p’s & q’s.” In this video, Howard shows inking of the press and printing copies...

Replying to @Nina Mant We do not post videos often with our 10x15 Chandler & Price Gordon-style jobbing press, but when we do film, sometimes it can be an undertaking (especially when an exhibit is being built on the third floor of our museum). Happy New Year! Hope you all had a good one 🥳 Always happy when I come across a piece of Russell furniture in the wild so was a treat to visit to the @gordonrusselldesignmuseum the other day. Quite nice that they let you play with the furniture, open the drawers and sit at the desks. Certainly wouldn’t mind having a couple of these cabinets in the shop for you, but don’t think they were selling ...

. I visited @gordonrusselldesignmuseum yesterday and decided to focus my attention on the Northleach Box and Mirror from 1926. The adjustable mirror and three drawer stand in photo 1 are a single piece. Photos 2 & 3 show the joint at the top corners of the drawer case. I’ve never seen a combination of dovetails and comb joint before. It’s obviously handmade - the slight “overcuts” are the givea...

"Until me and my wife went to look around the Gordon Russell Design Museum we had no idea how important he was and still is to Broadway.
We decided to have a look around not long after the museum had opened, which was very lucky for us, because the guide looking after things had time to point us in the right direction.
If you have time to visit this museum I would highly recommend it and should you be as lucky as us to meet the gentleman we spoke to,it will be well worth your time.
Sorry we don't know the curators name but we were most grateful to you for bringing Gordon Russell to life."

"Wow , what an absolute gem of a museum. It can be found just off the High Street in Broadway in the cotswolds. Gordon Russell was a furniture designer who was influenced by the arts and crafts style. He produced so many wonderful objects , wether it was music cabinets for Murphy or replacement furniture for those that had everything destroyed in the war. It was affordable , beautiful, ahead of its time and influenced others. You are requested to touch the furniture , open drawers, a d in some there are his plans. It's a fascinating insight into his workings. It's not a huge place, but I think we spent a good 90 minutes there. A special mention to the lovely lady on the desk who was informative , enthusiastic and in keeping with the furniture immaculately dressed. Fantastic place."

"If you happen to find yourself in Broadway, I would thoroughly recommend a visit to the Gordon Russell Design Museum. Charting Russell's career and providing examples of some of his designs, from Arts and Crafts through to the modern and utilitarian. Small by museum standards, but certainly packs a huge punch, and staffed by some lovely and very knowledgeable people."
