Here’s a wee collection of clips from the Turf and Creel House at Glencoe! This unique earth built structure allows you to step back in time and experience Highland life during 17th century Scotland. Approximately 350 years ago, the lower slopes of the glen were home to a community of around 450 people that were spread between small settlements. Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Glencoe Visitor Centre as an excellent starting point for exploring the glen, highlighting its informative exhibits, the fascinating recreated turf house, and the stunning natural beauty surrounding it. The cafe is noted for good food and views, though some find it pricey. The ample parking is a significant advantage.

"Lovely interpretive centre. Very nice cafe with good food. Terrific tour with a guide who shared the history of Glencoe Valley, it's people, and a Jacobite massacre in the 1680s, killing 38 and scattering a community of over 300 people to the hills. Archeologists have recreated one of the original style dwellings and we heard about that project and the construction methods. Fabulous! There are also loads of bird species. Highly recommended."

"We took a day trip up to Glencoe Visitor Centre the other day and it was well worth it, it is a long journey from Glasgow but the scenic views on the way make up for that. The car park was busy on the day but we were told September can be like that. If you are not an NTS member there is a small charge to park but the centre is free. You can learn about the history of the area at the small museum, there are also short films being shown. For the walkers there are trails you can explore, these are colour coded to help. The restaurant was busy but there is plenty of seating, service was excellent and the food very good. When you leave through the gift shop there is a good selection of items.
Everyone we spoke to there was very friendly and helpful making it a good day out.

The turf house is great and there is a cafe too, it was about to close but we could get ice cream! Amazing displays around the history of Glencoe and good parking too!"
