Reviews Summary

East Princes Street Gardens is a beloved green oasis in Edinburgh's heart, praised for its stunning views of the castle and Scott Monument, and its well-maintained beauty. Visitors appreciate it as a peaceful spot for relaxation, picnics, and photography, especially during the vibrant Christmas market. While it can get crowded, its central location and free entry make it a must-visit.

"A beautiful park in the heart of the city, located directly behind the Scott Monument. The elevated paths of the park offer beautiful views of the surrounding buildings. It is definitely worth taking a stroll through. However, do not expect to be alone here, as this area is a popular tourist destination, along with the Royal Mile."

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
East Princes Street Gardens is a beautiful and relaxing green space right in the heart of Edinburgh. It’s the perfect place to take a break from the busy streets and enjoy some fresh air surrounded by history and stunning views. The gardens are well kept, with colourful flower beds, wide paths for strolling, and plenty of benches where you can sit and take it all in.

One of the highlights is the view — on one side you have the Scott Monument towering above, and on the other you can look up towards Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town skyline. There are also several interesting statues and memorials within the gardens, which makes it feel like an open-air museum as well as a park.

It’s especially nice in the summer when everything is in full bloom, but even in the colder months it has a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The gardens are free to enter and very central, so it’s easy to stop by while exploring Princes Street or nearby attractions.

A few tips:
• Great spot for photos of both the castle and Scott Monument.
• Plenty of seating if you want a picnic or just a quiet break.
• It can get busy on warm sunny days, but there’s usually space to find a quiet corner.

Overall, East Princes Street Gardens is a must-visit if you’re in Edinburgh — a perfect mix of nature, history, and city views all in one place."

"Right beside the Waverly station under the Scott monument this garden houses a Military memorial garden of Remembrance and the Winter Christmas market. There are toilets and places to get lunch ranging from the formal in the National Gallery to kiosks in the park; or buy something from a shop on Princes Street and have a seat on the paths in this part of the gardens before crossing over into the Western part of the gardens at the National Galleries and the Mound. Busses trams are the best way to get here if you are not in a local hotel. Everywhere is walkable but remember Edinburgh streets are steep in places but distracting with so much to look around at in any season."
