Reviews Summary

Visitors find Donington le Heath a charming hidden gem with a fascinating 1620s house and beautiful gardens. The knowledgeable and friendly volunteers are consistently praised for enhancing the experience. While some feel it's heavily geared towards children, most appreciate the value of the annual ticket and the pleasant tearoom.

"This is a really tricky place to review. I went on probably the busiest day of the school holidays which meant it was slightly more difficult to see things and get around the place. It also effected the time it took to get in . The good thing with the ticket is it's valid for a whole year, so I may go back at a quieter time. The building and garden itself is an interesting relic of a bygone time. It is very well curated maybe too much so. There is so much to read if you want too. The volunteers were all excellent , knowledgeable, hard working and clearly loved the place , the little cafe was excellent too, but for some reason it just seemed to be too much aimed at kids for me and I didnt get enough historically out of it. However I do appreciate that it is important to get kids interested in history and to that end its done well."
