🪼 jellyfish patrol on Daymer Bay Beach. We found this whopper, which was about 30cm in diameter. Kitkat loves to rescue jellyfish by hand! It was quite a struggle as it was very heavy, and kitkat didn't want to hurt it. It was lovely to watch her, willing it on to get back into the sea. She went back and tried multiple times to get it back out in the sea. In the end, she carried it over the rockpo...

Reviews Summary

Daymer Bay Beach is a stunningly beautiful and expansive sandy beach, highly praised for its dog-friendly nature and picturesque views. While the natural beauty is undeniable, visitors often note the limited and sometimes poorly maintained facilities, particularly the toilets, and the potentially overpriced cafe. The ANPR parking system also requires careful attention to avoid fines.

"Gorgeous little beach! Decent sized car park, but limited facilities (there were some toilets but the cafe at the time we went was closed)"

Charlotte Payne

"The beach is fantastic. Loads of room for dogs, kite surfing and paddling. No life guard service but didn't plan to proper swim. Pleasant 30 minute walk to Polzeath for lunch. The negative was paying £7 parking only to find just one toilet operational and it was not well maintained. Also the guys in the shop had no customer service skills as talking and swearing between themselves and couldn't be bothered to open the shutters and make the place look welcoming.
I think new ownership or management is long overdue on the shop as it could be so good. Need to sort the toilets and rubbish disposal out. People will happily pay £7 parking for the day if the basic facilities are of reasonable standard."

Robert B

"A beautiful beach which is dog friendly too!

We spent about 3 hours wandering along and around this beach with our dog.

We spotted the local coastguard helicopter out practicing - didn’t see anyone in trouble.

The beach is clean and tidy too. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

Navigating Daymer Bay's Parking

Parking at Daymer Bay Beach is a common point of discussion among visitors. The car park operates on a pay-and-display system, but it utilizes an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system. This means it's crucial to obtain your parking ticket immediately upon entering the car park. Failure to do so can result in a penalty fine, as the system records your entry time, which may not align with when you actually purchase your ticket if you delay. Visitors have reported paying around £7 for a day's parking, but the value is often debated due to the limited facilities. Reddit

Beyond the ANPR system, the facilities at the car park have received mixed reviews. While there are toilets, reports suggest that often only the disabled toilet is operational and can be poorly maintained. The small cafe on-site is also noted for being overpriced for basic snacks and drinks. Many visitors recommend bringing your own food and water to Daymer Bay to avoid these issues and make the most of your visit. Reddit

Despite these parking and facility challenges, the beauty of Daymer Bay often outweighs the minor inconveniences for many. The key is to be prepared and aware of the parking system to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience at this stunning Cornish beach.
