Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the unique adventure of Davaar Island, particularly the thrill of crossing the tidal causeway and discovering the historic cave painting. The lighthouse and scenic views are also highly praised. Some note the challenging terrain requires good footwear and careful tide planning.

"Enjoyed the walk across during low tide. A very rocky scramble to the Jesus painting so didn’t make that but walk to the lighthouse was good."

Vicki Dale

"This was an awesome adventure and totally worth doing. I love tidal islands because of the thrill of waiting for the ocean to subside to access them. The hotel you’re in will know when it’s low tide. It’s almost a mile across the strand and it’s all pebbles and rocks so bring good shoes. They have highland cattle on the island! The walk around the right side to the Jesus cave is mostly bolder hopping but when you get to that 150-year old painting of Jesus in the cave - what an impact it makes! It felt very holy and you’ll have it all to yourself for meditation or prayer.

Highly recommend."

Lori K

"Decided to finally visit. You have to be reasonably fit to first cross the shingle causeway, then navigate the stony beach to reach the cave with the crucifix painting. It's well worth it though"

David Harvey
