Reviews Summary

Hutchinson's Bank is praised for its stunning chalk grassland, abundant butterflies, and peaceful atmosphere, offering a beautiful natural escape. However, visitors should be aware of the steep, unpaved paths and lack of on-site facilities, making it less accessible for some.

"This is a good site for nature, which is accessible from far afield by train and tram. The frequent trams from East Croydon railway station terminates at New Addington, a few minutes walk away from Hutchinson Bank.

The site is a former overgrown download where London Wildlife Trust has done much to restore grassland which is now, teeming with butterflies, some of them nationally notable."

Bob Seago

"A large, steeply sloping, nature reserve managed by the London Wildlife Trust, between Featherbed Lane on the western (lower) side and New Addington on the eastern (higher) side. It can easily be entered along a path next to the Fishers Farm recycling centre on North Downs Road (which is near the New Addington tram stop), or at the southern end, via a footpath from Fairchildes Avenue near Corbett Close. There are some sheep grazing in the area half way down the slope so gates should be kept closed."
