Reviews Summary

Visitors find Cartland Craigs a lovely local walk with beautiful woodland and river scenery. While some paths can be overgrown and the terrain undulating with steep drops, most feel safe with proper caution. It's highly recommended for a peaceful nature escape.

"This walk was really lovely. The path was a bit overgrown in parts, but still obvious and doable. You need a reasonable level of fitness for it. The trail was undulating. It follows the Clyde River which is silent at times and has rapids at others. There are some very steep drops beside the path. There are warning signs. We felt quite safe. Children should be warned and dogs controlled in that section of the walk."

"Great local walk. A regular route for me that is very enjoyable and not too difficult in terms of terrain and level changes. Can be added on to a longer walk up through Cleghorn Glen, ending up at the road bridge over the River Mouse near the village of Cleghorn. The route can also be walked in reverse and always gives fine views. Plenty of wildlife can be encountered and I've never found the path to be heavily used or busy. Highly recommended!!"

Caledonia Wanderer

"Fantastic wee walk lasting about an hour, from the blue bridge over the mouse(glenbirnie/woodend) all the way to cartland bridge. Mature woodland walk with some great views looking towards Lanark (mousebank rd area). Lots of birdlife and possibly deer too. Some high crags so wouldn't recommend going off piste lol. The initial hill is quite steep too."
