"The Carningly is my favourite 'almost a mountain' hill... if you know what I mean? It's rugged and majestic, with stunning 360 degree views that take in coast and country, but still gentle enough for kids and oldies alike.
Iron Age Hillfort... It's ramparts are still very well preserved, as well as evidence of huts and other dwellings which are easy to find with an OS map or app.
Plenty of parking, perfect place for a picnic and just isolated enough for a spot of wild camping if you follow the dusk/dawn rule and leave no trace.
Only a short way from Newport where there is a small shop, public toilets, pubs, café, fish and chips."
