Reviews Summary

Canteen 310 offers a trendy Italian dining experience in Notting Hill, praised for its chic ambiance and fresh pasta. While many enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and specific dishes like focaccia and mozzarella, some find the food can be oily or underwhelming for the price, and wait times can be significant due to its no-reservation policy. Service experiences can also vary.

"Is this place kind of overrated? Probably. Is it worth a long queue if there is one? No. Is it a bad restaurant? Also no. Food was okay, two standouts were the agnolotti and surprisingly the mortadella e farine. The vodka pasta was so underwhelming, lacked flavor and was way too al dente to a point where it was really gummy-esque… chicoria drenched in so much oil that we left it. They’re way too heavy on the oil in general, even tho it’s a high quality one… pear salad started was nice and refreshing. Focaccia was nice texture wise but again drenched in oil and cold - not sure why I expected it to be nice and warm. The chocolate mousse dessert wasn’t terrible, but I wouldn’t really order it again. The novelty and hype around it seems a bit manufactured, but great from a marketing perspective (off menu). Want to point out that all staff were sooo lovely and personable. Not always the case in a place as busy as this. I feel like canteen has nailed the chic / cool Notting hill “understated” upper class vibe and I’d much rather come here for a glass of wine at the counter watching the world go by with a good friend than visit again purely for the food."

"We waited 30mins for a table. Food was fine. They tasted nice but it didnt live up to the hype. We ordered the pork ragu pasta, wild mushroom pasta and crab risotto. Somehow all three dishes tasted strangely similar when they are meant to have quite different flavour profiles. We couldnt tell that there was any crab in the crab risotto. Surprisingly the focaccia is the best dish, it is incredibly flavourful and moist. On a positive note, the service was good and the food came quickly."

Rhoda Au

"Food was alright, the persimmon salad sure was a flavorful autumn treat. The prosciutto and castelfranco pizza, was okay but the pizza dough and crust were underwhelming. The focaccia was too cold to my liking; despite the aroma of the olive oil.
I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately some of the staffs were somewhat snobbish. Since this place doesn’t accept reservation I joined the queue 10+ min before it opened for dinner. I was the second person in the queue. To my surprise I was seated at the very corner of the restaurant right by the side exit and in front of the back kitchen. The only waiter that acknowledged me and acted normal was a male staff. One of the white female staffs couldn’t even serve my focaccia properly and had to stand a table away from me and tilted her upper body to do it. To say I was baffled would be an understatement. Either they really don’t care about solo diner or it’s a blatant micro-aggression. Neither is a nice look for a restaurant. If one cannot stand a POC then perhaps don’t work in hospitality."

The team behind successful ventures like The Pelican and The Hero have created an atmosphere that's both chic and inviting, complete with an open kitchen and a lively vibe. TikTok+1 Many visitors are drawn in by the aesthetics and the reputation of the chefs, who have experience from esteemed kitchens like The River Cafe. TikTok However, the reality of the dining experience can be a mixed bag. While the fresh pasta and focaccia often receive high praise, some diners find certain dishes to be too oily or lacking in distinct flavor profiles, leading to a feeling of being 'underwhelming' for the price point. Reddit+1

The lack of reservations is a significant factor in the Canteen 310 experience. Queues are common, and the restaurant's popularity means you'll likely be waiting for a table, especially during peak hours. TikTok This can add to the anticipation, but also to potential disappointment if the food doesn't meet sky-high expectations. Some reviewers have noted that the service, while generally friendly, can feel rushed, with plates being cleared prematurely, suggesting a focus on table turnover. For those who enjoy a lively setting and are willing to embrace the potential for a wait and a few culinary quirks, it can be a rewarding visit. The key is to manage expectations and perhaps focus on the dishes that consistently receive rave reviews, like the fresh pasta and focaccia. TikTok+1
