What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Canford Cliffs Beach is highly praised for its soft golden sand, clear waters, and a more relaxed atmosphere compared to busier stretches of Bournemouth beach. Visitors appreciate the family-friendly amenities like drinking water and toilets, and the option for barbecues. However, parking can be challenging on busy days, and it's advisable to pack beach essentials as on-site shopping is limited.
"One of my favourite beach days in England. Soft golden sand, clear water, and a relaxed vibe away from the busiest stretches. If luck’s on your side, you can snag parking right by the sand, but it goes fast on sunny days, so arriving early helps. Barbecues are allowed under set rules and times, which makes it perfect for an easy, lingering afternoon by the sea. You can also hire e‑scooters to cruise the seafront and explore more of the coastline.
A couple of practical notes: there isn’t really an option to buy last‑minute beach bits like swimwear, goggles, or kids’ beach toys right on the spot, so it’s worth packing those beforehand. For bigger shops, Decathlon and John Lewis are within roughly five miles, which is handy if anything’s been forgotten. I’m a dog lover, but do keep an eye on the seasonal rules — dogs aren’t permitted on the main beach in summer, and there are signed zones and dates to check. Lifeguards are on during the season and swim areas are clearly marked, which keeps things calm and family‑friendly.
All in, a beautiful, well‑kept beach with the right mix of calm atmosphere and useful amenities for a full day out."

"It a a lovely place to visit. We visited on a Saturday but this place was bit quieter in comparison to other areas on Bournemouth beach. Clean sand and blue waters make it a perfect place for a lovely day out. Parking around is bit difficult to find on weekends there are plenty of drinking water fountains and also free public toilets available. There are cafes and shops within 5 to 10 minutes walk in both directions. The tide is very stable and a safe place to enjoy day in water with kids. A wonderful place to spend a day out at beach. Highly recommended. The traffic can get worse on weekends, reaching early is strongly recommended."
