What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the beautiful natural setting of Cadzow Castle within the Chatelherault Estate, highlighting the scenic walks and river valley views. However, many express disappointment that the castle ruins are fenced off and inaccessible, with some noting the scaffolding detracts from the experience. The castle is best viewed as part of a larger visit to the estate.
"The walk to the ruins was beautiful and this castle must have been magnificent when it was still standing, however, currently you can't enter it as it is fenced off. I did drone over the property, and the area/valley/river are stunning."

"Bit of a disappointment as a Historic Scotland member. I'm glad it was set within the estate grounds as it gave us other things to view. It's basically unloved and forgotten about. Not much to see but scaffolding that has obviously been up too long and is now wonky and ineffective. Don't go just for the castle, plan to spend time in Chatelherault estate park. Oh and don't follow the post code from the historic Scotland booklet... just drive to the estate park. It won't take you the correct way to enter otherwise."

"Fenced off to the public and in a state of decaying ruin. Even the signs look aged!"
