What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Brungerley Park is praised for its unique sculpture trail set amidst lovely natural scenery, including river views and woodlands. Visitors appreciate the effort put into maintaining the paths and the availability of seating. However, the limited and often inconvenient parking, along with some very steep sections on the trail, are recurring drawbacks that can impact the overall experience for some.
"Great sculpture trail here. I stumbled upon it while walking in the area. I'll definitely be back to see all the sculptures in the future. The paths look to have been recently redone and are very smooth and wide. Plenty of noticeboards about with information about the sculptures on. There are a few parking spaces near Brungerley Bridge, not sure about parking elsewhere."

"We went for the first time, just my partner and I. It is a lovely place and you could spend a lot of time there. There is a sculpture trail which we followed and there is a mix of beautiful scenery from rivers, the quarry stone and woodland and a beautiful meadow. Plenty of benches to sit on on the top of the trail. I would say though, as someone who has some mobility issues that although the paths are clear and some are being updated which is good for prams and wheelchairs, there are some very steep areas. I was glad of the hand rail in places because I struggled. I took my time. The worry I would have for you though is that if you are not fit pushing someone in a chair uphill, and can just manage on the flat, because let's face it, a wheelchair can be a weight in itself the whole trail might be quite strenuous. I'd stay at the start of the trail and when you get to the steps maybe go back. Even that is a decent and lovely walk though as the river runs on the one side all the way. Take a packed lunch and take your time to enjoy it. Like I say, a lovely place. The other downside was the parking. There wasn't any so we had to park on the road. The reason I gave it 4 and not 5 was because of the lack of parking and very steep parts which I didn't feel particularly warned of from the website before we went. On the whole though a decent walk."

"There is a portaloo at the stone pillar entrance. Street parking. The main path is brand new tarmac and fairly long along the top of this steep sided quarry. The quarry is accessibility the lower paths There are plenty of sign boards showing the dozen sculptures. Yes you can get down to the river / tiny sandy beach. The river path looks to have had new railings 10-15yrs ago but a fallen tree a while ago has blocked the path and it has been abandoned by the volunteers. We enjoyed this walk with our dogs and there are plenty of seats and bins . Great views. There is a linkingpath out of the sculpture park along a fishing permit riverbank to another pretty bridge and the next village but we didn't have time to walk it."

Navigating the Sculpture Trail
Despite the challenges, many find the walk rewarding. The recently redone paths in some areas are a positive for accessibility, but the steep inclines are a recurring point of discussion. It's advised to take your time and enjoy the journey, perhaps even bringing a packed lunch to make a full day of it. The park also features plenty of benches along the upper trail, providing opportunities to rest and soak in the views.
Parking and Accessibility Considerations
Regarding accessibility, the park presents a mixed picture. The main paths have been recently updated with tarmac, making them suitable for prams and wheelchairs in those specific sections. However, a significant concern raised by visitors is the presence of very steep areas along the trail. While handrails are present in some places, individuals with mobility challenges or those pushing heavy wheelchairs might find these inclines strenuous. It's recommended to assess your own fitness and mobility needs before embarking on the full trail, and perhaps stick to the more accessible lower sections if necessary.
