"We stayed there in November of 1992. It was lovely. The breakfast was great. It is a very historic place and haunted. The original owner hundreds of years ago was accused of stealing and they cut off his hands. He has been haunting his home ever since. At 2 am we heard a horse drawn carriage outside our window on the gravel. There is no horse drawn carriage on the property. It was the former owner. He also materializes his hands on the dining room wall which been torn down and replaced many times and painted over the last several hundred years but it re appears on the same wall. We loved it since we are spiritualist ministers. They grounds are beautiful and it was a great place to stay."

"We booked the bridal suite for our honeymoon, on our way to our holiday. Being the bridal suite, you'd think they'd have let us know in advance that they'd also chosen to host a birthday party in the room directly below ours, with EXTREMELY loud music playing till midnight, but no. They told us when we arrived, at 9pm(ish), but by then it was far too late to find somewhere else and we wanted the bridal suite so stuck it out.
The building is beautiful and there's plenty of parking. The building is also in great need of repair and touching up in places, it looks like it was once very grand and has now gone to seed a bit with lack of care and upkeep.
The breakfast... wow, how horrible! A warm buffet spread, with eggs swimming in grease, and black mushrooms in their very own grease, limp bacon in grease, you get the picture. There was a little table with, bizarrely, a lot of gluten free options, but when I asked if they could do me some vegetarian sausages I was told, "No, we don't do those."
I asked what do they do for vegetarians, and was told, "You can have beans and mushrooms?"
Ended up making myself beans on toast.
Was later told by the man on reception that they do in fact do vegetarian sausages but the man I spoke to "was new." So who knows.
Anyway, after a bit of haggling we got some money back for the breakfast and went out to buy a much nicer breakfast elsewhere as we were still hungry.
Overall, lovely bridal suite if it weren't for the noise, poor, poor customer service, and avoid the breakfast altogether."

"We stayed for 1 night and had a room in the stables. It is an old style hotel and I loved it. The setting was lovely 9and furnishings were well suited to the hotel. The room was large, and the bed was comfortable, and the shower was great. Had the breakfast, which was self-service and loads of selection. The bar prices were average.There was a wedding on, however, did not impact our stay. Staff all seemed friendly and had no issues, what so ever. I'm already booked to go back next year."
