"There is loads of information jammed into this little museum, perhaps a little too much for the kids to read everything but we did have a good little visit, and it's free entry (but donations accepted!)"
Andrew Cartwright
"Very quirky and unique little museum that is free and entry is by donation only. Really packs a punch for its size with so much to see crammed into the space available. Especially liked the handwritten letters on the walls, the mock up of the ships cabin and radio plus the exhibits about the brother's boats that they also own there."
Daniel Booth
"Visited on 22d October, 2023.
Been to Bridlington for 6 -7 times, but never really realize that this place existed.
It is not big and not too many displays, but what worth the visit is the volunteers who can give you so many information and knowledge.
However, it is sad to hear that there are too many of them left, as they are aging, and they can't open too often.
Please make a donation as the entry is free, they have a donation box outside."

The Heart of Maritime History

These personal touches, combined with exhibits on radio equipment and other nautical items, create a deeply engaging and authentic portrayal of the community's connection to the sea. The volunteers, often retired mariners or locals with a passion for history, are a significant asset, readily sharing their knowledge and bringing the exhibits to life.
While the museum's size might be modest, its impact is significant. It serves as a vital reminder of the heritage that shaped the harbour town, offering a quiet yet profound experience for those who appreciate local history and the enduring spirit of maritime life. The free entry with donation model further emphasizes its community-focused mission, making it accessible to all who wish to learn and contribute.
Volunteer Power and Community Spirit
However, the reliance on volunteers also means that opening hours can be limited, a point frequently mentioned by visitors. This is a testament to the dedication of the aging volunteer base, who are the lifeblood of the museum. Visitors are encouraged to check hours in advance and to be understanding of any constraints. The plea for donations is also tied to this, as it helps support the operational costs that keep the museum running with its dedicated team.
The dog-friendly nature of the museum, as noted by some visitors, further highlights its welcoming and community-oriented approach. It's a place that embraces all members of the community, including their four-legged companions, making it a truly inclusive attraction.
