Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Brantwood for its stunning lake views, beautifully maintained gardens, and the fascinating insights into John Ruskin's life and collections. The friendly staff and reasonably priced cafe add to the positive experience, though the narrow access roads can be a challenge for some. The annual pass offers excellent value for repeat visits.

"Pay once visit many times a year! Along a narrow lane with a drop off point and lots of parking, definitely worth the drive, with friendly informative staff. Gardens, art, minerals, ruskins history, a video (I couldn't quite hear it) above a cafe that serves delicious food. I had a nice rainy walk around the garden, moss and pond, later through the gate around the lower garden. Views of coniston, and ready for next year they're redoing the boat launch area. A really lovely few hours visit, thanks"

"A few miles of single-track roads to get there (not recommended for large motorhomes) but once you're there the house & gardens are lovely and they usualky have 1 or 2 interesting exhibitions on. Added to that, once you've paid to get in, you can visit again free of charge for a whole 12 months! Good amount of free parking, toilets & nice cafe and shop."

Tina

"We have visited before but really wanted to see the art exhibitions this time. Both the Trees of Cumbria &the birds watercolours were wonderful. As always we also made time for a delicious cup of tea & cake in the cafe too. One of the best places in the Lakes for that!"
