What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Birmingham Council House for its breathtaking Victorian architecture and the historical insights provided during tours. The building is described as a beautiful and well-maintained landmark, with staff often noted for their helpfulness. However, some reviews highlight significant issues with Birmingham City Council's administrative services, particularly regarding council tax and communication, which can overshadow the positive aspects of the building itself.
"On the 6th September, my partner and I attended a wedding at the Council House in Birmingham. It was a wonderful experience. The architecture was breathtaking. The staff, especially Paul the security guard were a pleasure to encounter. He was so informative as to the history of the building as well as its many famous visitors over the years. The banqueting staff were wonderful also. The facilities were spotlessly clean and the whole building was beautifully maintained, despite its age.
Thank you again from a very appreciative couple from Ireland."

"We have been trying to get in contact with birmingham city council about our council tax and have had no response via email, and we cannot get through to anyone via telephone because it is all automated.
We are getting letters that we have outstanding balances, but we have set up a direct debit on numerous occasions. We are getting letters that payment is overdue, LETTERS even though we signed up for paperless billing, and we have called the payment line to pay, and it will tell you the amount owed.
Its disgusting that they threaten to take you to court but cannot offer any contact to help with trying to make the payments they are asking for"

"CAZ zone is a scam!!
So your car maybe ok in every other CAZ zone in the UK but not here? The air around the council profiteering stinks.
No reminder to pay? Just a charge after the event, if you need to disagree, then lots of letters and can arrange a tribunal, but council don't even turn up, just pay someone 'independant'? To show you pictures and say there's no case, so just pay up, even though I'd shown evidence, and travelled 200 mile to deliver to a homeless charity for them!!! Hiding behind the overpaid big wigs... Freedom of information act is interesting to see where that money actually goes!!!"
