Some long-time visitors miss the traditional flower beds, but the park's natural charm and amenities remain a strong draw.
"It's always a nice port for a walk or sit down the grass is kept tidy and the big trees make it feel very peaceful. I pop it along it was fairly quiet which I like. Only thing I'd say is it'd be canny if they added a few flowers in pots or beds, just to bring it up a bit, especially this time of the year. Still, it's a lovely place to relax and enjoy it a bit of fresh air."

"Lovely childhood memories from 60's and 70's - some improvements viz coffee shop, adventure playground but was disappointed (but understand why) there were no beautiful manicured flower beds anymore, such a shame. But still a lovely family friendly park."
Judith Sissons
"Barnes Park is accessible, well maintained, and full of wildlife. You may see rabbits, fish, squirrels, foxes, parakeets, birds of all kinds, and the odd sighting of a terrapin in the pond. There is a small cafe with indoor and outdoor seating which serves basic food, ice cream, hot and cold drinks. There is both an infants and older children park which are separate from one another. Toilets are basic but baby change and disabled toilets are also available. There is plenty of seating around the park including some picnic benches. The longest is route takes around 15-20 minutes, but if you’re feeling like more of a walk there are extensions at both sides of the park which are considerably quieter. The park is very dog friendly and you’re likely to see lots of them whenever you visit."
