What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bankfield Museum is highly praised as a fantastic free local museum, offering a surprising depth of exhibits from fashion to local history. Visitors appreciate the stunning Victorian building, friendly staff, and convenient amenities like parking and a cafe. While some minor improvements could be made, it's widely considered one of the best small local museums.
"A lovely museum with an unexpected Fashion through the ages with The Costume Drama Display. Loved that they tied it in with Yorkshire, including Mr. Darcy’s shirt. Liked the Halifax room with the sweets and cat’s eyes etc. I think it was also a great idea to have all the feature display cases in the main room. Enjoyed the militaristic rooms too. To say it is a free local museum, it’s one of the best small local museums I’ve been in. Staff were also friendly and happy to chat about the displays. There is a good amount of parking spots and also a small cafe that serves tea and coffee and snacks. Now we just need to work on the #sconeAsInGone!"
