What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Backyard Market offers a vibrant weekend experience with a mix of vintage clothing, handmade crafts, and street food. While some visitors find a portion of the goods to be mass-produced, many praise the unique finds, especially from independent vendors like the cashmere shop and perfume stalls. The atmosphere is lively, though it can get crowded.
"This place is an old market too, but I don’t think it ranks among the top vintage markets. Every time I come to Brick Lane, I notice that while people wander around, there doesn’t seem to be much worth buying. Apart from specialist shops that sell things like cameras or maps, most of the multi-item stalls just feel overcrowded with too much stuff, and the narrow spaces make you want to move on quickly rather than stay. Inside the warehouse-style section, many stalls are empty, which makes browsing feel a bit awkward. To be honest, a lot of it is clearly made in China, so I usually don’t bother going all the way in, but today I came to take photos, and it’s a shame to see it looking much the same as before."

"I highly recommend stopping by the Backyard Pre-loved Cashmere shop run by a lovely woman named Hillary. The store has a great selection of cashmere jumpers in all colors at affordable prices. I’m also grateful to Hillary for finding one of my earrings that had fallen off and keeping it safe until I returned. Wonderful service and a wonderful business—definitely worth supporting!"
