What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Aln Valley Railway for its charming volunteer-run atmosphere, enjoyable steam train rides, and family-friendly amenities like the play park and cafe. It's a well-maintained site offering a delightful glimpse into railway heritage, though the main train journey is quite short.
"Lovely little railway experience and play park. We visited with our toddler and some family. The play park is great, excellent bacon sandwich and drinks, the model railway was really fun and you can go as many times in the day as you like.
The main railway museum and tour was interesting and showed the history very well. There’s parking and toilets available easily.
Each train ride costs per person but it’s worth it if you have an interest in the railway"

"Great morning or afternoon day out. Only a short trip but worth it if you can jump on a steam train. The kids park is small but nice. Reasonable and cheap cafe selling a range of simple sandwiches and bacon butties on the day we went. The miniature ride on railway is not worth it in our opinion. You go forward 100m and back to the start."

"Great little railway. It’s only 20 min round trip but very enjoyable. There was a classic car show which made it even better. There’s a pleasant cafe and little shop too. Dog friendly and allowed on the train too. There also a miniature railway. Free and ample parking."
