What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Aldershot Lido offers a large outdoor pool experience with slides and dedicated swimming areas, making it a popular choice on hot days. While many enjoy the fun and the attentive lifeguards, some visitors have noted issues with slide queues, hygiene, and the need for facility updates. It's a place that can provide great value and fun if expectations are managed regarding crowds and upkeep.
"Awful place. A very bad experience from start to finish. I took my children who were excited to spend a few hours there and we end up leaving in 15 minutes.
Very run down place and hygiene is not great. The pool is filled with trees leaves and ants.
They didn’t allow my 7 and halt year to go on the blue slide saying the rule is 8+ while most water parks around the world look the height as this safer and staff can verify. I saw other children who were much younger and when asked the staff they said we appreciate you didn’t lie like others. I didn’t come across any of these rules prior on the website which meant I wasted time and money going there.
It was around 14:30 and all the sudden they shut the doors to the slides with no notice displayed or anything explained.
Steer away. Not worth a penny. I would give it 0 star."

"This place is great! We spent a full afternoon here and lots of fun was had by both adults and children. The pools were clean. The slides looked fun but the wait was terrible! The food trucks have a good variety of options and prices were reasonable. There were a few things I would hope the park management improve on, all car parks were full and we spent ages driving around to find a space on the roads, the grass area around the pools were extremely packed and made both uncomfortable to relax and annoying with people walking over your belongings. The toilets were absolutely filthy :-("

Navigating the Pools
While the pool itself is the main attraction, it's important to note that it is unheated. This means visits are best planned for warm, sunny days to maximize enjoyment. The Lido is part of a larger leisure center, but access to the outdoor pool is separate, typically via the car park.
Reviews suggest that while the pool serves its purpose on a sunny day, it could benefit from a revamp. However, the presence of numerous lifeguards ensures a safe swimming experience, with staff noted for their quick response in emergencies.
Slide Rules and Wait Times
It's crucial to be aware of the age and height restrictions for the slides. One reviewer mentioned a strict 8+ rule for a blue slide, which wasn't clearly advertised online, leading to disappointment. Staff may verify ages, so it's wise to check these rules in advance to manage expectations.
Furthermore, slides can sometimes be closed without much notice. One visitor reported the slides shutting down abruptly in the afternoon. Planning your visit for earlier in the day or on a weekday can help mitigate long waits and potential closures.
Hygiene and Facilities
The changing facilities are described as basic but clean, with toilets and hot showers available. Lockers are provided poolside, but visitors need to bring their own padlock.
Toilets have also been a point of concern for some, with one review describing them as 'absolutely filthy'. Given these varied reports, it's advisable to be prepared and perhaps bring your own sanitizing wipes.
