Reviews Summary
Aintree Racecourse offers a thrilling experience, especially during the Grand National, with many praising the atmosphere and the insightful Behind The Scenes Tours. However, visitors should be prepared for high prices for food and drinks, and potential traffic congestion on busy race days. The racecourse is well-equipped for events, though some minor issues with traffic management have been noted.
"Regarding the Grand National Tour:
I booked a place on the Grand National - Behind The Scenes Tour with Jane Clarke, on my own, as a huge fan of the race. What a day! Jane was absolutely fantastic, knew tiny little details and interesting facts. We explored the course, into McCoys, Stands, the Parade Ring, the Weighing Rooms, across to Red Rum's grave and a close up walk to the water jump. There was so much memorabilia (silks, trophies, tack). The tour overran by over an hour but that's because the group didn't want it to be over! Jane has all the time in the world for us. I would happily book this again in a heartbeat. We could take as many photos as we wanted.
Tiny disappointment that we wasn't allowed access to the stables on this date as there was a dressage competition, understandable but still a tiny disappointment out of Jane's control. She did try but the stable manager refused access due to horses coming and going to the equestrian centre.
Highly recommend to anyone with an interest!"

"Another fantastic day at the races the weather was amazing and the ppl were great.
We booked the steeple chase car park and it was fine.
Everyone seemed to be having a good time.
Its a must to visit on the day.
Book early though because the tickets go fast.
It was well signed posted, a bit hectic trying to get out though.
The traffic marshals weren't up to scratch they seemed that they didn't have a clue how to divert the traffic.
The drinks were a bit steep but that's the races for you .
The only downside was the injury to the horse in the national. Good side was the winner in the national."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
On race days, especially the Grand National, it can get very crowded and boisterous, which might be overwhelming for very young children. If attending a major race day, consider booking seats in a family-friendly enclosure or focusing on the tour experience. Be prepared for expensive food and drink, and plan for potential queues. Public transport is often the easiest way to navigate the crowds and traffic.
✈️ International Visitors
Be sure to book tickets well in advance, as they are in high demand. Familiarize yourself with local transport options, as trains are often the most efficient way to reach the course and avoid traffic. While the event is prestigious, the focus for many is on having a good time, so don't feel pressured by strict dress codes unless you wish to participate. Embrace the festive spirit and enjoy the unique cultural experience.
💰 Budget Travelers
Look for deals on tickets for non-major events and plan to pack your own snacks and drinks if permitted (check Aintree's policy beforehand, as this is often restricted on major race days). Utilizing public transport like trains can also save on parking fees and the hassle of traffic. Betting minimums can also add up, so set a clear budget for any wagers.

This immersive experience allows for ample photography and a deeper appreciation of the racecourse's legacy.
However, it's important to be prepared for the realities of a major event. Tickets for the Grand National sell out rapidly, necessitating early booking.
