What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Mertsalov's Palm to be a cool and modern artistic creation, appreciating its unique craftsmanship and symbolic value. However, the surrounding train station environment can be a significant detractor, with some finding it dirty and in disrepair, despite the convenience of charging outlets.
"Like the palm tree and the square near it, it's very cool, modern. But it's located at the station. When it's so beautiful from the outside, it's even scary when you enter the station. The ceiling is falling apart, it's dirty. But the whole station has 10 outlets for charging your phone. I'm not talking about the toilets at all. For 10 UAH. Dirty, the doors don't close. It doesn't flush...just awful."

"The palm tree is made from a single slat. Its trunk holds ten leaves and ends with a corolla at the top. The height of this truly artistic work is 3 m 53 cm. A hammer and chisel are the only tools used by blacksmiths. The first palm tree was created back in 1895. It is now in a museum in St. Petersburg. In the 2000s, copies were created in Kyiv, Moscow, Lviv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk. During the seizure of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, the Donetsk palm tree was stolen. It remained only on the coat of arms of the Donetsk region."

"Palm tree, like a palm tree. Yanukovych era. Iron. Reminds me of Yanukovych and Azarov."
