"A monument in honor of John James Hughes - a Welsh industrialist, the founder of Yuzivka (now Donetsk). The monument is located in the Voroshilovsky District of Donetsk, on Artema Street, near the third educational building of the Donetsk National Technical University and the library, which may symbolize the profession of John Hughes, an engineer at the English plant.
The author of the monument is the sculptor Oleksandr Mitrofanovych Skorykh. The monument was cast in the central repair and mechanical workshops and installed on September 8, 2001. The monument stands on a low pedestal, actually in human height, which, according to the sculptor's idea, symbolizes the human qualities of this figure.
Initially, the monument stood closer to Artema Street, and in August 2009, the monument was moved closer to the entrance to the new scientific and technical library of DonNTU."
