"bak in time !"

Dragoman Doina

"The Yaman Dede Mosque is located in the Talas district of Kayseri. It was commissioned as a church by Metropolitan Ionnis in 1886 during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid. It is known as the Panaya Church.

Constructed of smooth cut stone, the church was converted into a mosque in 1925 after the Greek citizens left the city during the population exchange. A mihrab and pulpit were added to the south side of the building. Shops are located below the mosque's terrace.

The name "Yaman Dede" refers to the fact that the individual born in Talas to a Greek Orthodox family, named "Diamandi," secretly converted to Islam and later took the name Mehmet Abdülkadir Keçeoğlu.

Yaman Dede continued his education in law and religious sciences in Istanbul and was known as an intellectual figure who also wrote works on Rumi. He died in 1962 and was buried in Karacaahmet Cemetery.

Panaya = Church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is a special title given to the Virgin Mary, one of the most revered saints in Christianity."

"The building, which was built as a church during the reign of Abdulhamid and converted into a mosque in 1925, is currently closed to visitors. Although there is no notice, when you look through the window, you can see the supporting columns and cracks on the outer surface. I guess that's why it's closed.

You can visit the inner courtyard of the mosque. If you happen to be there, the entrance is on the street where the large parking lot is located. It's not on the road where the cafe is."
