What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Museum Gazhane's free admission and its impressive transformation from an industrial gasworks into a dynamic cultural hub. The diverse exhibits, including science, climate, and art, are a major draw, as are the regular free concerts and events. While generally positive, some find the need to tap an Istanbulkart for free entry a bit unusual.
"This is one of the most unusual museums I have visited and is a great example of how former industrial site was transformed into an art and cultural space. I think it can be excellent to be used as a co-working space, where you may come with laptop and spend sometime working on the projects. You may have lunch there as well in Beltur cafe.
In the past, this place was a gasworks facility, essential for Istanbul’s energy supply. Today, it stands as a museum that preserves its industrial heritage and at the same time showcasing contemporary art and exhibitions.
It was a truly interesting and unique experience. Far away from historical city center, it would be more convenient to go there by car."

"Beautifully done facilities. They have museums, coffee, shops, open air objects to explore. Nowadays, they have a wonderful show about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in one of the two museums."

"The three stars are for the climate change exhibition. The rest of the site appears to have not been finished, with everywhere else closed off apart from the gallery (and cafe). Worth going for the climate exhibition if you are nearby, but I wouldn't make a special journey for it."
