What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Kilitbahir Fortress for its impressive historical architecture, stunning panoramic views of the Dardanelles, and the insightful museum exhibits. Many find the climb to the top rewarding, offering a deep dive into Ottoman history. Some travelers have expressed concerns about perceived price discrimination for foreign visitors.
"Located immediately after the ferry port, this site should be your first stop after getting off the ferry.
We brought a car with us and crossed the Strait thru the ferry. We parked right along the wall of the castle which we realised later was not ideal because there are free parking areas just in front of the castle gates. So we had about 100m walk to the palace gates but was OK because we had excellent pictures of the Dardanelles Strait.
The castle entrance rate is 100 Turkish Lira which is very much worth it if you climb way up the castle for a picturesque view of everything!
If you only want castle exterior photos you can just climb up the stairs from the marina parking and go straight to the cafes lining the castle on top of the hill."
