What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the magnificent views and the rewarding hike to Gelidonya Lighthouse, calling it a truly special place. However, some note the challenging terrain and the difficulty in accessing the trailhead via public transport. Litter, particularly cigarette butts, is a recurring concern, detracting from the natural beauty for some.
"Nice hike from the walking trial starting new karats. From the end of the road where you can park your car it’s about an hour walk each way - 4km. A bit of uphill and down hill to start and the last 20 minutes is all up hill. Views are nice, keep walking uphill past the lighthouse for even better views. Only let down is the amount of cigarette butts there are everywhere even though it’s national park and you’re not meant to litter or have open flame 🙄"

"A beautiful journey, but not the easiest without a car. First, you need to reach Kumluca, then take a minibus to Mavikent — it leaves every 30 minutes past the hour. From Kumluca to Karaöz, there are only two rides a day: at 12:30 and 18:30. The return from Karaöz to Kumluca is around 13:00 and 19:00. The ticket costs 75 TL.
Taxis are almost impossible to find, but some bus drivers may help — for an extra fee. Once in Karaöz, you can try hitchhiking to Korsan Koyu (Pirate Bay), or just start your walk. From Pirate Bay, it’s a 1.5–2 hour hike to Gelidonya Lighthouse, with breathtaking views all the way.
The last 2 km is the hardest — a steep, rocky uphill trail — but the view from the top is more than worth it. On the way down, don’t miss the fresh pomegranate-orange juice from the Fresh Juice of Ersoy abi. It’s the perfect reward for the journey.
I left a piece of my heart here and I will be come back for sure ❤️❤️❤️"

"Really cool place with a magnificent view. Gotta be ready physically for a hike, especially on a hot sunny day. But it's worth it.
From the locked gates it is somewhat like 3 km walking (some bikers are riding around them). And if you're up to it, there is more trail available, as part of lykian way.
There are a few tables with benches to grab some snacks and also a bench a bit higher up with the best view on the lighthouse and islands behind it."
