"The restaurant is located right next to the Yeni Mosque. We were welcomed by the lovely Senem, who kindly showed us the menu and explained the dishes to us. That was the deciding factor for us to dine at “Alpek.”
You can take the elevator directly from the street up to the open rooftop terrace. There is also a closed section of the restaurant that has a romantic charm. From there, you have a wonderful view of the Golden Horn, Galata Tower, the Bosphorus Bridge, and the city all around.
The food was delightful and prepared with love. For the main course, we had “Mixed Kebab,” “Alinazik Kebab,” and “Chicken Schnitzel.” For dessert, of course, we had baklava and plenty of çay (Turkish tea).
The restaurant has a slightly upscale character. The music volume was just right for having a normal conversation. The staff were very friendly, and card payment is possible.
If you are visiting the Yeni Mosque, this is definitely the right place to enjoy a delicious meal or to spend a romantic evening with a stunning view over Istanbul. The bill was exactly correct, and we were even treated to another round of tea on the house.
The restaurant definitely gets my recommendation — and big thanks to the wonderful Senem."
