"Walked around the central Tozeur area with group and Tour Leader ,so saw focus areas that one could miss. Notably the brickwork, as this is unique to this region.
This is a medina to stroll around ,without being hassled ,as is a fairly residential area, and just chill. The covered market is mainly for locals to buy essentials ,a handful of coffee shops for tourists.
This is primarily an oasis town, at the edge of a vast desert and is not geared up to rip off tourists who take the time and effort to travel there"

"The Medina of Tozeur, is also called the district of old Ouled el Hadef, and it is one of the best preserved in Tunisia. It features impressive stone walls and the entrance is made from the traditional stone of the region namely briquette. We actually visited a brick works which makes these. We visited late in the afternoon when it was peaceful & quiet. We were mindful that the Medina is home to many people who live behind beautifully carved doors one of which is said to be the oldest and most beautiful doors in Tunisia. The Medina has many other features including a Koranic school and imposing minaret, as well as the house of the bey, a house is also used in some scenes of The English Patient."
