Reviews Summary

Visitors note the attractive architecture of the Carthage Presidential Palace but emphasize that it is a highly secure, private area not open to the public. The strict no-photography policy and visible security presence are significant aspects of any visit, with some travelers finding the security measures intense.

"Apparently you get a hefty prison sentence if caught taking photos of the presidential palace.

Even stopping for a few moments to check Google Maps on the opposite side of the road walking in the opposite direction got me a (friendly) moving on shout from a police officer.

Anyway, the building is attractive.

I think I involuntarily did photograph a part from the Roman Villas in Carthage!"

"Absolutely disgusting how much money they spend on this useless palace when the people of Tunisia are in great need of help... I was completely shocked seeing this palace after arriving from Tunis, a capital city that is clearly very much in need of support. What a testament to greed.

The police offers with fully automatic assault rifles really did not add to the environment either. Nor was it nice to be interrogated by a police officer just for walking down the street."
