What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Basilica Saint Cyprien is a historical site in Carthage that often disappoints due to its frequent inaccessibility behind locked gates. While it offers a glimpse of 2nd-century ruins and nice sea views, many visitors cannot explore it fully. It's best viewed as a minor stop within a larger Carthage exploration rather than a destination in itself.
"Because Carthage has been destroyed more than once in various wars, often not a lot is left. Like here.
If you're passing have a look but not worth going out of your way for.
A ticket to visit all the Carthage sites is 12 dinars."

"a 2nd century basilica....marked by a rusty street sign a block away and a low fence / gate. Nice atmosphere, really. We respected the gate because not our country, not our rules and we weren't clear what the guidelines were.
So we checked, and there is a well-worn trail up from the beach. We took it - and it does go to the site, but we stopped at the edge. Again, not our rules. It isn't clear to me that the gate isn't just to stop vehicles from entering the site and otherwise maybe no one much cares, but I don't truly know. What you can see from the gate is pretty much what you can see from the rear - you aren't missing much.
I wondered whether the site were even completely excavated. Couldn't find a record online that it was."

"Not open to public! Only visible from the iron gate. There's some info about Saint Cyprien and the history but not much else."

Understanding the Accessibility Challenges
Some individuals have noted the existence of unofficial trails leading from the nearby beach.
