Reviews Summary

Visitors find the National Museum and Art Gallery to be a valuable resource for understanding Trinidad and Tobago's history and local art. While the content is rich and often discovered anew with each visit, some reviewers point out that the museum's curation, lighting, and overall presentation could benefit from modernization and better maintenance to do justice to its national treasures.

"The museum is one of my happy places, took my daughter for the first time and she loved it too. Not much has changed since my first visit years ago, yet every time I visit I discover something new. Hoping that with the major renovations coming up they really do this national treasure justice (and maintain it too)
First time I've been allowed to take pictures inside as well. The guy at the front said, take as many as we want so we can compare when the renovations are through."

Shernell Joseph

"Informative museum on the first floor about the history of the my twin island home. Second floor has an exhibition of paintings sculptures by local artist. Even two by my late art teacher.
But MORE professional curation is greatly needed. Some of the pieces seem dusty and deteriorating. Poor lighting and uninspired installations.
The WITCO sports room has not been updated with latest Trinidad athletes, the pictures are yellowing out and fading.
They seem to be in the same condition as when I first saw them 35 years ago. CURATION!"

Darren Maharaj

"Genuine history and artifacts on display. Very interesting for people who would have an appreciation for roots and culture. The building interior needs a facelift."
