"I think that was the Theatre which the Freeport Players raised money to build in 1968-70. I was one of the female actors photographed in the Freeport News when the corner stone was being laid. We used to perform in an old converted aircraft hanger with a corrugated iron roof over the Stage When we had heavy rain we had to pause because we couldn't hear what our fellow actors were saying! We were mixed nationalities & made & painted all our own scenery & our performances were always sold out. Sir Charles Hayward was our Patron & he was a great character who drove an old black London taxi & provided an endless supply of champagne for our Last Night parties. If ever given a small part in a play it was difficult to get him off the Stage, he was a real "ham"!! Fun days!!"
