What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cabbage Beach is overwhelmingly praised for its stunning natural beauty, featuring crystal-clear turquoise waters and soft white sand. Visitors love the free public access and the vibrant local vendor scene, though some find the vendors to be overly persistent. While amenities are limited, the beach's sheer visual appeal makes it a must-visit for many.
"Fantastic beach. There are 2 public beach access. We used the one close to RIU hotel and walked a bit further east and had the entire beach to ourselves (sep 2025). Crystal clear turquoise water and white coral sand. You will be asked to rent sunchairs and umbrellas on arrival, but it's really expensive ($30) so if you really want it you can ask politely for a better price. We walked there from our hotel (Warwick) and it was a 15 min walk."

"Absolutely beautiful beach. Crystal clear warm water and soft sand. The downside is that as soon as you step foot onto the beach you get bombarded by groups of guys trying to get you to rent the beach chairs and umbrella. One guy got mad at me when I said we were only staying for a few minutes. Another guy tried to intimidate us by placing a family right next to our stuff."

"Absolutely beautiful beach — a hidden gem!
Cabbage Beach is stunning — soft white sand, crystal clear turquoise water. It wasn’t too crowded when we went, and the views were just incredible.
We didn’t even plan to swim — we just took a walk to check out the beach because it’s near our Cruise. But once we saw how gorgeous and inviting the water was, we couldn’t resist! We ended up jumping in even though we didn’t bring swimsuits. Honestly, it would’ve been a huge regret to leave without feeling the water here — it’s that beautiful.
This is, in my opinion, the clearest and most beautiful beach in the world. I still can’t believe how insanely clear the water was — it looked just like regular drinking water, only salty! Unreal.
There are some local vendors offering drinks and jet ski rentals — some are a bit persistent, but mostly friendly. Just a heads-up: bring your own towels, snacks, and shade if you plan to stay for a while, as amenities are limited.
We are coming back this June — that’s how much I loved it. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Nassau — this beach is truly unforgettable!"

Navigating Cabbage Beach as a Cruise Excursion
Upon arrival, visitors will encounter local vendors eager to offer beach chair and umbrella rentals, as well as drinks and snacks. While these vendors contribute to the lively atmosphere, it's important to be prepared for their persistence. Polite negotiation for chair rentals is advised, as prices can be high. Some visitors recommend walking further east along the beach to find quieter spots away from the main vendor areas.
For those seeking a more secluded experience, exploring beyond the initial access points is key. The two-mile stretch of sand means there's ample space to find your own slice of paradise. Remember that amenities like restrooms are limited, so packing essentials like towels, water, and snacks is highly recommended for a comfortable day at Cabbage Beach.
The Cabbage Beach Vendor Scene
Many visitors appreciate the friendly service provided by vendors like 'Freddy,' who is noted for hooking people up with drinks and chairs. You can also find vendors selling delicious local food, including specialties like cracked conch and various seafood dishes. These vendors are a great way to sample authentic Bahamian flavors right on the beach.
However, it's worth noting that vendors can be quite persistent in their sales pitches. Some travelers have reported feeling pressured or even intimidated. The key is to be firm but polite if you're not interested in their services. Remember that while they enhance the beach experience, you are not obligated to purchase anything. Bringing your own supplies can also help manage interactions with vendors.
Understanding Cabbage Beach Access Points
For those seeking a more tranquil experience, the advice from seasoned visitors is to venture further east from these main access points. This often leads to less crowded stretches of beach where you can enjoy the serene beauty of the turquoise waters and soft sand with more privacy. This strategy is particularly effective for cruise ship passengers looking to escape the immediate bustle near the port.
Regardless of the access point chosen, the journey to Cabbage Beach itself is part of the adventure. Whether by a short taxi ride from Nassau or a walk from a Paradise Island hotel, the anticipation builds as you approach this renowned Bahamian destination.
