However, some express concerns about the commercial aspects and the entrance fee, suggesting a desire for more in-depth cultural information beyond the market stalls. Reddit

"A wonderful experience. The handicraft is beautiful. You can actually get cheaper prices in the market, but please support the Karen folk. Buy their products and take pictures with them. Donate to their education and medical fund. The ladies and children -all the men are away, working - are beautiful, friendly and speak a smattering of foreign languages."

"Mixed feelings place

on one hand it might be one of last changes to see woman representing ethnic group still wearing long next collars which are part of their cultural heritage.

on the other hand i feel as visiting this place and paying 15$ ticket is contributing to young people sufferings.

lady at the ticketing booth who is not member of the tribe told me that girls are required to wear rings since age of 4.

most visitors i noticed where Chinese tourists coming in larger groups. It would be interesting if there were some information boards explaining culture heritage, customs and history. Instead all you can see if the shopping stalls and the woman wearing collards. I felt i would like to learn more but there was no one to ask. i felt locals didn't speak English and there were no guides around other than private tour guides taking care of their groups.

Although most of the village is shopping stalls it does seam as it might have been a real village in the pasts.
if you step out of the retail corridor you will see people living there. during my visit i noticed doctor heaving appointments in one of the houses on stalls which might be a small local clinic or village house?

people living there seams to be happy and smiling.
i do however have bit of mixed feeling when seeing your girls wearing the neck rings.
there are rings for sale offers and i was surprised to find out how heavy this are. Medium height set weight few kilogram."

"🇹🇴..It’s always been in my interest seeing and learning from people still holding their culture and living still in their traditional ways. The Long neck Karen people village is 300 Baht entry fee, and is about 15 mins drive from Bandu, Chiang Rai. Our Thai driver went and paid for us at the counter, which gave us a discount."
