What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kaeng Sopha Waterfall offers a dramatic, tiered cascade over boulders, especially impressive during the rainy season. However, visitors frequently note the high entrance fees for foreigners, leading to mixed reviews about its value. The intense sound and brown water are also common observations.
"The waterfall is in a national park. The ticket to get in buy at the gate. Waterfall is 2 km from the entrance. Like a big rock sinked and river-water overflow down to the next big rock (2-3 levels)"
Monchai Percharoon
"I have been there during summer time and seem that the water level was in a critical condition and dry in most areas"
Woody K
"Sort of a robbery to charge me 500 THB just to enter, specially when I was the only one in the park. But I guess that’s the price I have to pay as a tourist on my own on a trip in Thailand… Agree or disagree as you want to. But the waterfall, Nam Tok was ok, the water was very brown, but that’s normal here. Lots of noice that I honestly suspect was artificially made, almost so I would recommend earplugs when the sound was pretty intense, and I’m working at an airport!
Abut anyhow, there are probably much more magnificent Nam Toks around, and FREE of charge to enter! But if you want to pay too much money for a ok view, I recommend this place, but if you’re not, stay away, when it really wasn’t that impressive."

Due to the intense noise and potentially slippery, rocky terrain around the falls, close supervision of children is crucial. Understanding the Kaeng Sopha Waterfall Experience
However, visitors should be aware that the experience can be polarizing. While some are awestruck by the sheer force and unique landscape, others find the entrance fees to be excessively high, particularly for foreign tourists. The water's color is typically brown, a common characteristic of regional rivers, and the sound of the falls can be overwhelmingly loud for some.
Despite potential drawbacks, the waterfall offers a distinct natural attraction. It's a place to appreciate the raw power of water and the lushness of Thai rainforests. For those who don't mind the cost and are prepared for the intensity, Kaeng Sopha Waterfall can be a memorable stop on a journey through the region.
Navigating Fees and Expectations
It's important to manage expectations regarding the waterfall itself. While visually striking due to its tiered, boulder-strewn nature, some visitors have found it 'ok' or 'not that impressive' when considering the cost. The water's brown hue is also a common observation. The intense noise level is another factor that can impact the experience, with some recommending earplugs.
For travelers considering a visit, it's wise to research current entrance fees and weigh them against your budget and expectations. If you're seeking a budget-friendly natural wonder, you might find more suitable options elsewhere. However, if you're prepared for the cost and appreciate unique geological formations and powerful natural displays, Kaeng Sopha Waterfall could still be a worthwhile, albeit expensive, experience.
