What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the breathtaking beauty of Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, with its stunning limestone cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life. The island hopping tours are a highlight, offering access to iconic spots like Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon. However, some travelers note concerns about cleanliness and plastic waste, particularly around certain areas, and the food quality on some tours can be disappointing.
"We booked a day tour to Phi Phi island. The travel agency sent a vehicle to pick us up from the hotel and to transport us to the venue. Upon arrival, we were briefed on the itinerary for the tour and the days activities. The tour guide was very informative and helpful. Wow!!!! We were transported via a boat to the various stops. It started to rain really heavy and it just added to the experience of the day. The islands are absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking!! There was the options of swimming, snorkeling and diving. Life jackets were provided so safety was taken care of. We were also provided with bottled water and fruit which was very refreshing as the temperatures were rather high on that day. We were taken to the island for lunch which was included in our package fee. The food provided at the restaurant for the tour via a buffet setup was bland & tasteless!! That was the only negative of the day. We were also taken to the Maya beach but it was only for photos as we were not allowed to swim or go into the water. We were however taken to another beach as a final stop and we could swim there and it was awesome!! Overall experience was top-notch and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour!!"

"It is tranquil beaches, limestone-framed vistas, and inviting waters- perfect to set the scene for the visit. It is marine national park in Karbi province. Clean and beautiful view during sunset, it offers a peaceful escape and definitely the most beautiful place, it is absolute paradise."

"Long and magnificent beach view. There are a lot of facilities available here such as tables, chairs, parks and signage. The beach is also clean and has many visitors. It is also a pier where tourists assemble before taking a boat to go to island hopping to phi phi island, 4 Island and hong island. There are so many boats here. The water is also clear during sunny weather."

Exploring Maya Bay: A Conservation Success Story
Since its reopening, Maya Bay has implemented stricter regulations to protect its fragile ecosystem. Visitors are often not allowed to swim directly in the bay to preserve the coral and marine life. Instead, the experience focuses on admiring its breathtaking beauty from designated viewing areas or from the boat. This approach aims to balance tourism with conservation, ensuring Maya Bay remains a paradise for future generations.
When planning your visit, it's crucial to check the latest access information for Maya Bay, as policies can change based on conservation efforts. Many boat tours will include a stop here, offering a glimpse of its unparalleled natural splendor. Remember to be a responsible tourist and follow all guidelines to help maintain its pristine condition.
Navigating the Islands: Boat Tours and Transportation
When choosing a tour, consider your budget and desired experience. Group tours are more economical but offer less flexibility. Private tours provide a more personalized experience, allowing you to customize your itinerary and spend more time at your favorite spots. Many tours depart from Ao Nang or Phuket and often include hotel transfers, lunch, and snorkeling equipment.
On the islands themselves, especially on Koh Phi Phi Don, transportation is mainly on foot. For longer distances or to explore different beaches, you can hire a longtail boat. Be sure to negotiate the price beforehand. Remember that the waters are teeming with marine life, making boat travel an integral part of the Phi Phi Islands experience.
Wildlife Encounters: Monkeys and Marine Life
The surrounding waters are a haven for marine life, making snorkeling and diving popular activities. You can expect to see vibrant coral reefs, colorful fish, and even blacktip reef sharks in certain areas. It's essential to practice responsible tourism when interacting with marine life. Avoid touching coral, as it is a living organism and easily damaged. Use reef-safe sunscreen to minimize harm to the delicate underwater ecosystem.
By respecting the wildlife and adhering to park regulations, visitors can ensure a positive and sustainable experience. Observing these animals in their natural habitat is a privilege, and it's our responsibility to protect them for future enjoyment.
